Family Visit
Emma Jean Lynch & Virginia Wisener spent a week in early April with Dave & Simone Lynch in Ellicott City Maryland. The two ladies were able to visit the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Savage Mills during a rainy morning, the historic district of Ellicott City, the Great Falls of the Potomac from both the Maryland and Virginia sides of the river, and historic Harpers Ferry West Virginia. John & Louise Koenig hosted an evening at their home in Sykesville. The photos show the Potomac rapids at Great Falls, and a view at Harpers Ferry.

Norwegian Cruise
Dave and Simone Lynch went on a 12 day cruise along the coast of Norway this past August. The cruise started and ended in Southampton, England and went as far north as the North Cape near the small town of Honningsvag. The North Cape is a cliff that is 1000 ft. above the North Sea and about 300 miles north of the Artic Circle. The landscape consisted of tundra but no trees. The only wildlife we saw in that area consisted of small reindeer herds.
Norway is expensive. At the going exchange rate of dollars into krone, a cup of coffee runs about 5 dollars and all else is priced accordingly. Unless food was included on our excursions, we ate on the ship.
The scenery within the fjords was spectacular. More waterfalls than I have ever seen in one place. The Aurlands Fjord ran inland for over 120 miles and ended at the small resort village of Flaam. With a maximum depth of more than 4,000 ft., the ship had no trouble negotiating the fjord for its entire length.
Photos below show: Our ship anchored at Geiranger Fjord, Trondheim, North Cape, Simone at an overlook near Flaam, Aurlands Fjord & Our ship (Grand Princess) and the Queen Mary 2 at Bergen.

TOURS AND CRUISES
Dave and Simone Lynch went on a 12 day bus tour of Central Europe in September and a 14 day 12 island Caribbean cruise in December. The European tour included the cities of Munich, Prague, Budapest, Salzburg and Vienna. One photo below was taken from a boat on the Danube River and shows part of the small Austrian town of Durnstein. The castle ruins located above the town is barely visible in the photo but it was here that Richard the Lionhearted was captured while on the way back to England from the Crusades. He was released in 1194 after England paid a kings ransom.
The other photo is of downtown Punda on the Dutch island of Curacao. Curacao is located just off the coast of Venezuela

Hi Family & Friends,
We apologize for the mass e-mail, but wanted all of you to get this information at the same time. So without further ado...as of 6 PM Bejing, China time today our Dossier for an international adoption was recieced by the CCAA (Center for Chinese Adoption Affairs). This is sort of the mid-point in our adoption journey. For the past year we have been working to complete our paperwork to be approved by the District of Columbia and the US Federal Government to adopt a baby from China. Now we will wait for translation and approval from the Chinese Government.
From this point we will wait, approximately 15 months, for our referral of our baby from China. 6-8 weeks after our referral, which will include some photos and some information about our baby, we will travel to China to pick up our baby. She (at least most babies adopted from China are girls) will be 8 - 18 months old. We have named her Louisa Ruth, and we will be calling her Lucy.
We are asking for all of your thoughts and prayers as we enter this waiting process, with less paper-chasing it seems like it might feel longer than the past year. We also hope that you will hold the parents of this baby in your prayers. It is a tremendous choice these parents are making, risking their lives and the life of their baby. We can't wait to meet Lucy and bring her home and for all of you to meet her too!
Much love to all of you,
Emily Gowdy & Paul Canady

Early one august morning, Jimmy and Gloria Hernandez woke up to a loud
noise in the front of the house.. Gloria went to living room and found
the corner shelves on the floor and the knick knacks on the floor!!
she blamed it on the cats that had run out of the living room..gloria
thought the cats had gotten on the shelves and broke them..
Later that morning she went out to the backyard and noticed a tree limb
that was so big that Jimmy couldnt get his arms around it had fallen
and hit the side of the house!!
The limb put a hole in the roof, knocked the window unit a/c out of
the window, knocked the chimney top off and pulled the rest of the chimney
away from the house a little.. it also moved the wall enough to cause
the floor to sag in one corner of the living room.
Their still working with the insurance company to fix the house.

Friends, fans, cast and crew...
Our film, Untouched, has been accepted and will be making its festival debut at the American Artists Film Festival in Kansas City, Missouri, September 30. If you know anyone in that area, please forward this message to them and ask them to attend.
Im sure this will be our first of many festivals. It is the first year for this particular festival, but it looks fairly large (with continuing sites in New York and Los Angeles). We have a great time slot at 8 pm on Saturday. They seem very excited to be including Untouched in their program. As with most film festivals, the number of entrees is overwhelming, so it shows that ours stands out.
Follow the link to their website for times, schedules and other information.

Oldest and youngest Canady
John (Dillon) Canady
Sunday, July 30, 2006
It
really saddens me to tell you that one of our "first cousins"
has passed away. Dillon Canady died yesterday afternoon of pancreatic
cancer. He was our oldest living male Canady at 92 years old, and our
first president of the Canady Family Reunion. His father, as you know,
was Uncle Lonnie, the oldest of the 9 Canady children of William and
Susan Canady.
Dillon's viewing will be held from 6 to 8 PM at Baker's Funeral Home
in Savannah. The funeral will be on Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM. We
are sending flowers from the Canady Family Reunion.
Dillon had a very quiet sense of humor to match his always quiet demeanor.
Remember how he always joked about being the "best looking Canady"?
We will surely miss him.
Love to you all,
Macie

Canady family,
Our family has lost a dear member yesterday. I regret to inform you that Willa Steinhauser past away early yesterday morning. I received a call from Tim and he mentioned that she past away peacefully in her sleep.
Willa Steinhauser was a treasured member of our family and at all our reunions. She is one of the few family members who have been at each of the thirty-one reunions.
I have been on the Savannah Morning News website and found that she has a guestbook that can be signed. I encourage each of you to take the time to visit the site and add your signature in support of Harry and their family.

Friends, Family and Film lovers,
As many of you know, I have been building my career in film and television for the past three years. My goal is to be a working actor in film. My resume now includes recent roles in One Tree Hill (WB), Vampire Bats (CBS), Surface (NBC) and FOX’s America’s Most Wanted.
Every great acting coach has told me the best way to achieve my goal is to write my own part in my own film. So I have followed in the footsteps of Sylvester Stallone (Rocky), Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting) and Mel Brooks and written my own film. It is a short film about love, loss and finding redemption. Its a great script that got the attention of a talented director, savvy producer and award-winning cinematographer. I am lucky to have the three of them on board. Their vision will help turn this script into an award winning film.
We are in pre-production now for a mid-January start. I would like to invite you to join our talented cast and crew and be a part of this film. Although the cost of filmmaking is normally expensive, we have already shaved thousands of dollars off the budget. Our actors and crew are donating their time, talents and equipment. The expense of the filmmaking process comes in buying and developing film, securing locations, permits and festival submissions. Our budget is $8,750. This is a reasonable budget for a 12 to 15 minute film.
If you would like to help and be a part of this exciting process, please visit the film’s website http://www.thefilmuntouched.com
Read about the cast, director and the film. The website is being updated frequently, so please keep checking back for new information. All donations of $25 will receive a special copy of the film and their name listed under “Special Thank You’s” on the film’s credits.
Please visit the website and read about the process, what we need and how you can be a part of the process. http://www.thefilmuntouched.com
Sincerely,
Chip Lane

John and I would like to introduce our new daughter, Shannon Nicole Koenig. She was born on October 1, 2005. Shannon decided to arrive a month earlier than expected, but she is perfectly healthy and we had no complications.
So far, she has a voracious appetite and prefers to be a bit of a night-owl. (We are learning to live on just a couple hours of sleep.) Overall, she has a wonderful temperament and we are counting our blessings.
Dave and Simone Lynch are finally grandparents!

They were supposed to call and let me know when it was coming on, but it will air again this Saturday (5 Nov) at 4pm if you are interested. It is supposed to be very realistic. Well, I just saw the commercial for Vampire Bats last night, so its official. If you happen to see the commercial for it, you’ll see me there as well. Anyway, the movie is showing Sunday at 9 pm EST on CBS. I’m playing a deputy sheriff. My scene is near the beginning. I discover the first victim and am in a scene with actor Tony Plana.
Thanks for your support.

Dave and Louise-
Thank you again for all the information in connection to the extended family. My grandmother remains a powerful influence in my life and I am pleased that you were able to enjoy her one of kind firecracker personality. I look forward to getting to know members of the family as time goes on.
Here are some newsworthy bits my our side of the tree Aunt Vicki and Uncle John's son John-Paul now has three sons with his wife Alice they are Noah, Clayton and Travis. They have a wonderful home in Lynchburg, VA with Grandma and Grandpa near by at Smith Mountain Lake. My parents were able to make a visit this past Labor Day. My mother Paulette is a Dean at Hillsborough Community College and doing very well and my father Raymond is still a Judge in the 6th Judicial Circuit. Time has continued to be very good to both of them. My brother Paul is a lawyer who recently passed the bar (HOORAY) and is a public defender in Clearwater, FL. Where our father got his start. I am a professional speaker and consultant as well as a fund development officer for a large not for profit in Tampa. My husband Chip Tieder is a (he too has a law degree) Compliance Officer in Tampa. No grandkids- unless you count pets and we are all pretty pleased about that since we all travel quite a bit and our careers have us all in a tail spin. The best part is that we all live so close and see each other often.
It is our sincere hope to make it to a reunion in the future as we know it would make our Nana (Viona) proud.
With love-
Rebecca Gross Tieder

I’m very proud of all of you. These three actors have trained hard over the past several years and it is starting to pay off.
I had some calls from some acting coaches that are interested in coming to Charleston this Fall. They have never been to the area before and would be a great benefit for all of you in that area. So get ready and save up some money. I’ll let you know when I know.

March 2005 -- Tim and Patty Steinhauser are rounding the corner on one year in their new home in downtown Savannah. Patty loves the hardwood floors, Tim loves the fact that he has no lawn to cut, and they both love living in the historic district. The restaurants, theaters, and activities that the Savannah College of Art and Design offer downtown residents have filled their nights and weekends since they became "empty nesters" when Diana went off to college in Oklahoma.
Diana is doing great in school, having made the Dean's List in here first semester in deaf education training. She plans to go to school straight through the summer and will be unable to attend the reunion this year.
Caroline also continues to prosper as a member of the teaching staff for the Saint Louis Science Center. Caroline and her cat Destiny have learned to appreciate St Louis, but are considering finding a career closer to home and the equator!

Okay,
I’ve been neglectful too. I remember when I was compiling and producing the news letter it was hard to get news. Now with the advent of email and easier communication we should all be more cognizant of our duty to the Canady Family. Our nook of three, four or more is our close knit, but we share a common heritage that we mustn’t ignore. Over thirty years ago, a handful of our mothers, fathers, grandparents, etc. got together to cement a foundation for generations.
My grandfather, Hoyt (Pop), had a head full of black hair. Bertie and Joe Barbour were gathering cousins for midnight games of “21”. Jack Adams had a crew by a pool somewhere trying to figure out how the Dawgs would be SEC Champs that year. That group kept up with one another without the luxuries we have today. I believe we are obligated keep up their traditions.
In that vein, I am asking that each of you take a small amount of time and jot down at least one or two things that could be included in the next newsletter. In the time it takes to forward the latest joke via email we could forward a few lines to John or Louise. I’m just as guilty as anyone else. I’d be willing to bet that not many of you knew that Susana and I spent a week in Ireland in August. We had more than our share of fun and I’ve been asked time and again to write something and haven’t. Yep, I’m guilty of neglect.
I would, however, like to take this time to thank David Lynch for his continuous support of our Canady media. I always enjoy your stories David. Thanks for including the pictures too.
Please, take a moment sometime in the next week to jot one or two items and get them to Louise (lalynch@yahoo.com) or John Hancock (surferberle@yahoo.com). So, there’s my friendly prodding. I appreciate your efforts and I look forward to seeing you all at the next reunion.

Tampa, Fla. (Jan. 2, 2005) -- There was a charged sense of patriotism in the air during the 2005 Outback Bowl as approximately 65,000 fans cheered as Marines were honored during pre-game and half time activities.
The nationally televised football game featured a match up between the Universities of Georgia and Wisconsin and was an excellent opportunity for America to pay special tribute to five Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans, four of whom are graduates of the colleges featured in the gridiron clash.
As the first Marine was recognized during the half time show, SSgt. Brett A. Massey, a Tampa resident currently assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 169 (HMLA-169), the crowd broke out with a massive cheer. For Massey, the experience was well worth the trip back home from Iraq.
“When I first heard that I was being sent to Tampa, I thought it was a joke,” Massey said. “But when I found out it was true, I was more than excited because it meant I’d be here for some very special events.”
Massey was able to make it home in time for Christmas with family and friends, he was able to celebrate his eighth wedding anniversary with his bride, but the greatest gift of all was being able to hold his 11-week-old daughter for the first time.
“It was an honor to present the Marines to the country as genuine heroes on national television.” said Capt. Maxwell Boucher, Marine Corps Recruiting Command’s project officer for the Outback Bowl.
For University of Georgia graduates Capt. James Lane, executive officer, G Company, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. and 1stLt. James Donovan, training officer, 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, Camp Pendleton, Calif., representing the Marine Corps and their Alma Mater at the same time was an incredible opportunity. As a veteran of the initial northward assault through Eastern Iraq with Task Force Tarawa in 2003, Lane was quick to state that the freedom to be an American doesn’t come free.
“We protect the country so that people can get together at events like this and watch football or a favorite team without being in fear of any terrorist action,” the 1995 graduate of UGA said.
To Donovan, being honored during the Outback Bowl was a tribute to his Marines with the 1st CEB currently in the Iraqi theater. A combat engineer by trade, Donovan lost two Marines during his tour of duty while in Iraq. So, it was an honor to represent his Marines at the Outback Bowl.
“This is a great opportunity for me to represent my guys, my platoon who really worked hard out there,” Donovan said. “We faced and overcame a lot of challenges. One of those challenges was disarming enemy munitions used by insurgents as improvised explosive devices.”
Also honored were University of Wisconsin graduates Capt. Matthew Fischer, commanding officer, G Company, Marine Combat Training Battalion, and Capt. Ryan Schiller, an AH-1W Cobra pilot also with HMLA-169.
Returning from his second tour of duty in Iraq, Schiller was just happy to see his wife and be able to watch his team compete in the Outback Bowl.
For Fischer, being honored in front of his school made him even more proud of his accomplishments and experience as a part of history.
"It’s a positive feeling to stand in front thousands knowing that I took part in liberating a country while spreading democracy,” the former Badger said. (Badger is the mascot for the Univ. of Wis.)
All the support provided by Outback Bowl staff and representatives wouldn’t have been possible without their love for the Marine Corps. This was clear when Outback Bowl president and CEO, Jim McVay, expressed his interest in solely choosing the Marine Corps to participate every year.
“We have a great appreciation and a lot of respect for the Marine Corps,” said Jim McVay, president and CEO of the Outback Bowl. “The highlight of our efforts in putting together the Outback Bowl is having these young veterans who served in Iraq out here to let them know their country appreciates them.”
In addition to the halftime recognitions, the Marine Corps was highlighted during pre-game activities and during the coin toss before the start of the game. During pre-game ceremonies, the Parris Island Marine Band played music as football fans entered the stadium.
Also, Major Shane “Rhino” Tomko, commanding officer, Recruiting Station Portsmouth, N.H., sang the National Anthem as Marines from the 4th Amphibious Assault Battalion, here, provided the color guard.
The grand finale of the National Anthem culminated with a thunderous low-level AV-8B Harrier flyover provided by Marines from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 203 out of Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C.
Brigadier General Walter Gaskin, commanding general, Marine Corps Recruiting Command, was honored to conduct the coin toss resulting in Wisconsin winning the toss and electing Georgia to receive the ball.
“This was our third year at the Outback Bowl and being able to participate in events of this caliber is a great opportunity to showcase the Marine Corps,” Gaskin said. “Our involvement at the game sends a message to America - we stand for patriotism, honor, courage and commitment.”
Additional Marine activities featured an interactive setup featuring two pull-up challenge contests, a red Marine Corps Hummer outfitted with a massive amplified sound system, a giant sized inflatable drill instructor and the #25 Team Marines show car. The Marine presence left a lasting impression with many who attended.
“There is no question of my patriotism and how the Corps makes it all come together,” said Gabriel Van of Marietta, Georgia. “I am thankful for what the Marines do for this country.”
Following Georgia’s win over Wisconsin (24-21), football fans left the “Sunshine State” with greater feelings of patriotism, largely in part of the Marine Corps and its participation this year’s 2005 Outback Bowl festivities. It was a good time. We all made it down to the field before the game and got a picture with UGA, which will be forthcoming. The Dawgs tried to give it away but in the end the Defense was just too fast for the Badgers. Greene wasn't sharp at all, but the D was outstanding and saved another one.

December 23, 2004: News From Maryland
In August, Jim and Emma Jean Lynch, with grandson Jeremy, spent a few days with Dave and Simone in Ellicott City, Maryland. Jim & Emma Jean wanted to show their grandson the Nations Capital before he returned to school. One day was spent in Washington, DC with visits to the Air and Space & Natural History Museums. Walking on the mall provided good views for photos of the Capital and several monuments. The next morning was used to tour the National Aquarium in Baltimore at the Inner Harbor. That afternoon was used to tour nearby Ft. McHenry of "Star-Spangled Banner" fame. Their final day was used for sightseeing and shopping in Maryland's capital of Annapolis.
In September Dave and Simone flew to the Algarve (Southern) region of Portugal for a 2 week stay at a beach resort near the town of Alvar. Portuguese towns in that region have narrow streets and whitewashed buildings with red tile roofs. Fishing used to be the main industry and is still important but has been surpassed by tourism. The coast in that area has high red cliffs that are full of sea caves and grottos. In between the cliffs are beautiful and often isolated beaches. The photos below show a rocky coast near the town of Lagos and the beach at our hotel on a very windy day.

In October Jim, Emma Jean, Dave & Simone checked into the Fieldstone Inn in Hiawassee, Georgia for a three day Miami High School Jamboree. A Jamboree is like a reunion but is open to all graduating classes. It was really great to see so many of my class mates after more than 50 years. The oldest class represented was 1941 and surprisingly the youngest was 1957. Northwest Georgia is quite scenic with low mountains, lakes and many waterfalls. The photo below was the view from our balcony at the Inn. --Dave Lynch

Dear friends,
Another year has come and gone. Things around the Hunnicutt household have been crazy as ever, but it has been a good year as well.
In February, we purchased our house and then after spending a month on painting and moving stuff in, we moved into it in March. We have not still sold the trailer, but we are still hoping and praying that someone will come along soon and purchase it. Our house has twice the room that the trailer had and it's a really nice community. We were really blessed to find such a nice house in a really nice neighborhood and at a price that we could really afford as well.
School for Sue has been a real adventure this year because she is now teaching five year old kindergarten. It has definitely been a challenge, but she has made it through it so far, and we are hoping that this might be what it takes to get her a little closer to home. That would really be nice and it would definitely be a time saver for her.
Other than that, things are normal and we are looking forward to a wonderful Christmas season and will be enjoying sharing it with our friends and our families. It is our hope and prayer that the remberance of the meaning of this season be remembered for what it truly is and that is the birth of our Savior.
From Sue, Lin, and Hickory; we want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a joyous and prosperous New Year.
Love,
Lin and Sue Hunnicutt
American by birth, Southern by the grace of God.
